It works for VL 3.2 and 4.0.

To make your own with you need:
www.biwaymedia.com/Downloads/VectorLinux/gfxboot-1.4-i686-1.tgz
and directions and more boot screens from here:
http://www.gamers.org/~quinet/lilo/
First install the lilo package. I did not uninstall my previous version and it was fine. I was afraid it would remove my lilo.config.
Copy the xray-blue.boot to /boot/xray-blue.boot
Then edit one line in your /etc/lilo.config:
message = /boot/xray-blue.boot
If you have a message line, change it. If not, put it somewhere up in the top around the "boot=/dev/hdx" area.
Save lilo.conf.
At a terminal, type "lilo -v" with no quotes.
If there are errors, fix lilo.conf and rerun lilo -v.
Reboot and check out the cool animated logo!
