Begin3 Title: maildrop Version: 1.0 Entered-date:05JUL00 Description: Maildrop is a powerful mail filter/mail delivery agent. Maildrop works with your mail server to deliver incoming E-mail. Maildrop reads the message to be delivered, then optionally reads instructions from a file, specifying how to filter mail. Based on these instructions, maildrop may deliver the message to an, or forward it, instead of saving the message in your usual mailbox. Maildrop uses a sophisticated filtering language which allows very complex mail filtering rules to be defined and used. Maildrop provides advanced filtering tools such as RFC821 parsing, and GDBM database file support. Maildrop uses a structured, real, meta-programming language in order to define filtering instructions. Its basic features are fast and efficient. At sites which carry a light load, the more advanced, CPU-demanding, features can be used to build very sophisticated mail filters. Maildrop deployments have been reported at sites that support as many as 30,000 mailboxes. Sample mail filtering recipes as well as complete documentation is provided in both HTML and man page format.
