Alpha Processor, Inc. produces an SRM console for the UP1000 system. On August 9, 2000, API fixed a bug in the UP1000 SRM which caused the NetBSD kernel to panic when configuring the console if the console was a graphics adapter plugged into the AGP slot. The SRM version that fixes this bug is A5.6-4.1-14. The file up1000-srm-A5.6-4.1-14.tar.gz contains a firmware update kit for the UP1000. To use it, format a 1.44MB floppy with an MSDOS file system, and place the contents of the tar file onto the file system on the floppy. At the console prompt, run the "lfu" command to update your firmware. Note that under the SRM console, the floppy device is "dva0". Known problems with this firmware: - As of A5.6-4.1-14, the firmware appears to not assign an address to the USB controller, rendering it useless. NOTE: THIS FIRMWARE IS BETA RELEASE ONLY! YOU ASSUME ALL RISK OF INSTALLING THIS FIRMWARE ON YOUR SYSTEM! Please send mail to port-alpha@netbsd.org if you have any questions regarding NetBSD on your UP1000. Jason R.
